Its been a busy week and looks to be much the same for the rest of the summer. Life is a marathon in itself.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race  all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
Hebrews 12:1  Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race
that is set before us.

It has been great to have my art class though as time out. Last week we started a water colour.

We rarely finish anything but this time we were doing it over two weeks and I couldn’t believe the results, of course having a little fabric in it made it even more special.

It may not look like it but we only used payne’s gray and yellow ochre and I was amazed at the shades we were able to make with the two colours.

I need to get into my craft room this week as I need items for the stall Liz and I will be having on Sat  next at Cloughy Presbyterian craft morning. This evening Julie, Evelyn ,Rory and I did the Ards half Marathon walk in 2hrs 26 minutes and we chatted non stop throughout which was probably a marathon in itself!! The gougons we had prior at Addison’s first did help.

Kathy is back!!!

My friend Kathy was back for another visit and the last one this time before she goes back to her home in Cape Cod in USA. However i got good news that some of my cousins are coming over some time in the next 12months from Connecticut in USA so very excited about that. kathy did a bit more sightseeing.

eggs Benedict for Kathy

Carolyn and Barbara joined us for supper on Friday night which was fun.

We had planned to go to the Giant’s Causeway but visitor centre is still not open and the weather helped us change our mind so we decided on St Patrick’s grave and cathedral in Downpatrick with an imax film at the  St Patrick’s centre.

On the way we called at Carolyn’s,Whiterock,Killinchy

Lunch in newcastle with a walk around the town.
We stopped for a tour of Castle Ward before getting the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry. There was a dog show at Castle ward which Smudge enjoyed watching but she really doesn’t get it why dogs run round a circuit for the sake of it when she gets everything she wants and needs for doing nothing!!

Smudge on ferry crossing

Kathy got to experience the best fish supper in Ards or possibly Ireland!!!!!

It was coffee and craft this week past and this week. Georgina had so many items to show us that she had made.

Her daughter Julie joined us.

Claire was just back from Madrid so well refreshed and Zara kept Smudge on the move.

Our new Precept study started on Genesis part 3 on Abraham with 6 of us meeting to study this morning. What did we learn already?….we have such a patient God who will guide us and protect us no matter how much we make a mess of our lives. How encouraging to know as weak and useless we may feel at times there is a greater power to give us strength to continue on.

Time to relax this week

It’s been a strange kind of week after a busy weekend. I have had some urgent creative memories to put together which took priority so the sewing was set aside so maybe this week. I did make a cover for my new phone. Fortunately the new one hasn’t caused any problems.

I did get to my art class this morning and a walk with Smudge, Julie and Minnie yesterday.

My sneezing has increased since the weekend and sore throat reduced my sleep so having a lazy afternoon. Just going to do some knitting both sides complete so now working on the back.

It has been an incredible weekend in more ways than one. A time to get away with friends and to focus on God and a time to share with friends the many miracles and answers to prayer in the last year. Focus fest 2012 was the best ever for me regarding the worship and speakers.

It was mentionned on a few occasions how good it was to have so many local people taking part after all God choses the weak and ordinary not the strong and famous to do his work and change the lives of many. It is wonderful to celebrate and everyone loves to have fun but essential that when it concerns our relationship with God it is also serious and based on Biblical principles and this weekend certainly fulfilled this.God has us here and now just as part of his plan just as he did Esther. If you want to know more about Esther there is a precept study over the summer you may want to join at Scrabo
 or other venues

Focus fest was chaired by a very good friend’s daughter and our Precept director which made it extra special so much so we chatted  after the event and I didn’t get to bed to 0100hrs!!!!

It was also great to meet up with old friends I havent seen in a while and catch up.
I made a few book purchases, one from a lady who took one of the seminars and although I have just started reading it I already feel I can recommend it.

The other was written by one of our church members so looking forward to getting to it as well.

This week I also had some time for crafting and teaching. you can see julie’s completed cushion above. This is the first item she has made and all by hand. I designed a new patchwork bag. Next week I hope to try out at least one more new design with Cath Kidston fabric so keep an eye on the blog. The sewing room looks like a bomb has hit it but will have to get it into some form of organisation to turn back into a bedroom for Kathy who is coming to stay on Friday.

Diamond Jubilee

This weekend has been a mixture of weather and many celebrations for the Jubilee and the passing by of the Olympic torch. i have just spoken to my brother who is going to visit mum as the torch is going right by her house. Last weekend Liz and i did a car boot sale at Mountstewart more for fun than anything else and at one point J and Smudge joined us.

I sold some Cath kidston items I made and Liz’s best sell was her cupcakes.I recommend these if you have a lot of things you want rid of as they have one every month check out their site for details.

We hope to repeat this at Cloughy Presby on the 7th July so I have a bit more sewing to do. Here is a start.

Today we had planned to go to CastleWard house but turned back as rain was quite heavy so we went back to our usual spot at Mountstewart.

We had a walk in the woodlands and to the lake. It was lovely to see that all 8 cygnets survived and have got so big in last few weeks.

We attempted to leave Smudge at a sheltered area near the restaurant but she cried so we had to take our lunch outside despite the rain-chargrilled chicken salad with pepper sauce was yummy even with raindrops!!

Our Queeen

Home in time to see the Queen return to Buckingham Palace.

Our Future Queen

She looked everything a Queen should be.

 I just loved her outfit.

She certainly was the best dressed of the day. I am not excited by the rich and famous but would have loved to meet the Queen, however not at the palace where I met her husband but to have her in my own home for a chat. I wonder would she mind leaving her corgi’s for a few hours and being smothered with kisses from Smudge. If that didnt suit we would settle for a walk in the grounds of balmoral with all the dogs!!!!
