Holidays over and back to normal for me

The holidays are over for me whilst everyone else are just beginning theirs. Lots more craft sessions. Most of us finishing off items, such satisfaction in that.

Liz got her scottie dog completed and ready to start an owl cushion. I got my kiddies hoody finished and have gone back to knitting an item I had started for myself some time ago. Art classes continue getting my holly finished and then my Christmas bells.

I find it so difficult to paint something that is shiny soooo tempted to add glitter!!!!!

one week gone

It was so good to start drawing again. I decided on the old boot.

2 weeks work and more to go

J had lots of things to finish off in the house that he hadn’t a chance to do during his busy summer. Smudge kept an eye on everything and everyone of course. Smudge managed to get a little more involved with the paint than she should have so a
pampering session was required asap.

What does Christmas mean to you?

What Christmas is all about

The world we live in has developed in such a way that priorities are constantly changing. There is so much available at our fingertips literally and I am as bad as most as I hate shopping and love being able to do this online. This can be a good thing and a bad one. It’s all a matter of putting everything in order of importance and balancing our lives. What do you think of when you think of Christmas? Do you think of  FOOD,turkey,Christmas pudding and cakes.

or do you think about gifts and all the new things you will receive with the season. Do you prefer to be the giver of gifts or take time to make or purchase a gift that you feel is just perfect for that person. Do you spend more than you can afford because after all it is Christmas. Smudge decided she wasn’t waiting to Christmas and opened her present from her Nanny B

Is it a time for family and friends that you never see the rest of the year but have to because it is Christmas!!! Maybe it’s the only time you communicate by sending cards or do you just send any card because it’s the thing to do at Christmas?

I do love having my home decorated the month of December. We swap many ornaments and pictures for Christmas ones.

Maybe it’s this time of year we just look forward to partying with friends and colleagues.

I went to silk painting class last weekend with a focus on Christmas and only half considered Christmas in their design.

Christmas doesn’t bring me memories of Santa and gifts because as a child it really wasn’t something to look forward to apart from getting presents. However it is because of Christmas that I have the life I have. A life of joy no matter what the situation, a life of HOPE and assured PEACE in the future. How can we forget the true meaning of Christmas? Simply because the world we live in is slowly but surely taking the Christ out of Christmas.

Miss K and I made our own crib this afternoon. We also had all the characters cut from card using a cricut and some straw for the manger.

Almost December

It has been a very busy week especially for J with working so many extra hours. Our refridgerator has been used more for conveying messages than actually storing meals. We did in enjoy a night at the cinema with the whole movie theatre to ourselves last night and now I am looking forward to my work’s Xmas lunch and farewell to a colleague who has already left.

We didn’t get the same chance for walking this week but took Smudge out to see Santa last night. Santas arrival was excellent in a vintage car and the Samba band accompanying the kids with their lanterns. However the rest of the entertainment was diabolical but then always is in Ards compared to Bangor. You could barely hear anyone on stage and what you could hear wasn’t worth hearing so we left before the Christmas tree lights were even switched on

I didn’t get as much craft done as I usually do but managed to get a little knitting done and a few gifts.

Coffee and craft continued with many items being finished. Back to art class and still quite enthusiastic from my day at the museum.

I do always find it strange working in colour after drawing. I always find colour quite scarey.
